OpenAI Launches GPT-5, Enhancing AI Capabilities for ChatGPT Users
OpenAI unveiled its latest AI model, GPT-5, on Thursday, marking a significant leap in performance for ChatGPT users. The new model is accessible to all tiers, including free users, with improvements in speed, accuracy, and utility across writing, coding, and healthcare applications. "GPT-5 reduces unsupported claims by recognizing task limitations and clarifying its boundaries," said Michelle Pokrass, OpenAI's post-training lead. CEO Sam Altman noted the stark contrast with GPT-4: "Going back felt miserable."
The launch solidifies OpenAI's dominance in the AI sector, driving its valuation into the billions. The company anticipates reaching 700 million weekly active users following the update. GPT-5's hallucination rate—fabricated responses—has been minimized through 5,000 hours of safety testing. The model is now available for Free, Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers.
